Chicken and Mash

Comedy Genius

Hi and welcome to Chicken and Mash, an unofficial fansite dedicated to the comedy genius that is Ricky Gervais. That's him on the right by the way, but if you need telling then maybe you shouldn't be here? In fact, if you didn't know that the bloke on the right is Ricky Gervais, I have to wonder where you've been for the last few years (Guantanamo Bay, probably). I mean, come on! The guy is an absolute legend! Yeah yeah, "I heart Ricky" an' all that. It would be a bit odd if I didn't though, wouldn't it? "Me? I'm ambivalent regarding Gervais. That's why I created a website about him..." Hmm

Oh in case you were wondering, the name of the site is taken from Ricky's favourite food. For those of you expecting to see photos of domestic fowl eating potatoes, I suggest you go and visit www.iamafreak.com

A Perfect Rant
The Independent are once again in the Gervaisian ©2008 Chicken and Mash News (see story below). This time it is as a direct response by Ricky on his official blog to a ludicrous non-story published by one of their columnists, Henry Deedes. Mr. Deedes has certainly got up Ricky's nose, with Ricky venting his annoyance with a wonderfully written prose that caused me to almost fall of my chair I was laughing so hard. For the full effect, read his comments normally, then read them a second time while imagining Ricky saying them out loud. Brilliant.

A large number of news sites have been reporting on the Independent's Men from the Pru story. This is of course a good thing, because it means as well as having the upcoming Ghost Town and This Side of the Truth to look forward to, we can now start getting sweaty palms at the thought of The Men From The Pru hitting the screens. When I was a kid I remember a man from the Pru visiting every so often. I often wondered if he was shagging my mum, to be honest. As far as I know, we never had any policies with them...

AintItCool have a screening report for the upcoming Ricky Gervais movie Ghost Town. Click on the link for the full story, but suffice to say, they loved it. Did we expect anything less? No.
From the report:
Overall, this was one of the better rom-coms I've seen in a good long while. Certainly the funniest, to the point that we should consider putting into into a com-rom category. The laughs come first in this flick, but the heart the cast injects keeps it moving. Have no fear gents, this is one of those rare and beautiful creatures you don't often see: the genuinely funny and entertaining Date Movie.

What's here then?

For starter's there's this page... obviously. As the site grows and more information is added, this page will be used as the site introduction and for all the latest news and announcements.
Ricky Who? is the place to find all of the biographical information about Ricky, but with a difference.
News and Comment. Again, unless you are a pigmy on a day trip from the Amazon rainforest, the News and Comment section should be pretty obvious with regards to the content contained therein. There will be news, along with my comments on various stories relating to Mister Gervais. I told you it was pretty obvious.
Crazy Flavas is the place to go and find a large number of useless but ultimately, erm, useless facts and information concerning our Ricky. Here you will also find a quite frankly SHOCKING article that will make you reevaluate everything you thought you knew about Ricky. Or not.
For more information about this website, click the Chicken and Mash link on the menu above. Or, if you are really lazy and can't bear the effort of moving your wrist ever so slightly, click this one. Don't do it straight away though, otherwise you will miss the rest of the information on this page! You did already? Twat.

There's a randomly generated Ricky-related YouTube video on the homepage too. I know, I know. Some of them you have to look really hard for the Ricky references... There is also a neat news box thingy that automatically updates with Ricky-related news from around the Internet. There is a expanded version of the news in the News section, funnily enough. Oh look, just read the damn site and see for yourself what's here, ok? Thanks!

Things you should do soon

Well, if you haven't already you should get your arses over to Ricky's stupendous official website at www.rickygervais.com. I've even provided with you the official site logo to help you out. If you see the logo below after clicking on the link, you'll know you're in the right place. No need to thank me, it's all part of the service.

Official Site of Ricky Gervais

Watch the official Ghost Town trailer at the Dreamworks website. If you're anything like me, and I pity you greatly if you are, you will be wetting your pants in anticipation at the film's release on the 24th October. If you're in the US, you lucky sob's get to see the movie a whole month earlier on the 19th September. Pah!

Actually, if this new fansite is to have any credibility whatsoever, I really should be writing a first-hand review of the film just as soon as it is released. I can't be waiting a whole month before writing a review. I'll become irrelevant before I've even got started! The only thing for it is to make liberal use of the PayPal donation button (over there on the right) and see to it that I make it to the States on time. I reckon a few hundred pounds a time should do it? I'll need to get my passport sorted and I'll definitely need some smart new clothes. I'll need a new laptop too, just in case I lose mine. Yeah, I reckon if quite a few of you give generously, we could do this thing. Failing that, I'll be posting a review shortly after the 24th September once its released in the UK. No doubt muttering "Bastards!" under my breath as I write it...

Have a laugh at this. I was going to put the following in the Crazy Flavas section, but i like it so much I'll put it here:

I know I probably shouldn't but.... Muhahahaha!

When I first saw that I just sat there open-mouthed. Oh no! They no longer endorse our Ricky! This could be the end of such a promising career... Alternatively, you could just laugh your tits off like I did. Seriously, I know people either love or hate Ricky Gervais* - but love, then hate? That's a new one on me. It has to be religion, has to be. More wars are started over that crap that anything else. When you see pages like the above, it's easy to understand why. You've been warned...

* I know, it's hard to believe that some people actually don't like Ricky Gervais. The way I see it, some people are normal, some aren't. Simple as that really.

One final thing "to do soon", is let me know what you think of the site. I've created the site because I'm a huge fan of Ricky Gervais... obviously, and I thought it would be nice to share that with other like-minded folk. I'm also a bit of a geek and I like to mess around with creating websites. I do it for a living but I get bored creating sites when the content is about as interesting as picking your nose whilst watching paint dry. You can contact me here with your comments, suggestions, criticisms, rants or whatever. I look forward to hearing from you, mostly...
